With the current pandemic of the Corona-Virus, everything seems very unstable and overwhelming. Life has suddenly flipped upside down and the way of living has completely changed, we all feel weird, down, confused and anxious. The future feels uncertain which will undeniably make the status of the economic climate once lockdown is over very unknown to every single one of us.
Although deaths and people infected are rising, it is important to remember the number of recoveries are a lot higher (thanks to the NHS, which can I just say don't get enough praise nor pay for their efforts now and before this pandemic) than those who have sadly passed and those that have been diagnosed.
We must stay positive and we must stay inside during this pandemic, the safety of everyone right now is priority, and the sooner a lot of people comply with this the sooner the UK will get get back to normal.
Feeling stressed, anxious, lonely, bored, tired and unproductive will be a common theme for each and everyone one of us whether it be every day or every other day, everyone is different. But it is important that we all take this time to reflect and do things we do not usually do such as picking up new hobbies, getting into a routine to bring a little bit of normality back into your life, reminding yourself of interests that you had in things that you may not have done in a while. Or even start planning a business, now would be the perfect time to do things to not only keep yourself occupied but to come out of quarantine feeling refreshed and ready to start going back to normal life with your new learnt skills and even your new business plan that would be ready for launch soon after.
For me personally, I have realised that picking up new good habits and revitalised old ones I may have neglected alongside a new 'quarantine' routine is important for me, as everyday seems just like a day it makes thinking in the present necessary, as it sets a positive mindset for me. So my daily routine starts with playing my favourite music really loud, to get me motivated and give me the energy for the new day. Writing down tasks and objectives I want to have achieved by the end of the day also helps me focus, then once I have done them ticking them off makes me satisfied with my day but most importantly myself. Making sure you are still achieving and doing things in self isolation is important in making you feel good, giving yourself praise and reminding yourself that all is not bad. You have got this.
A couple of new habits I have started and want to begin are listed below as I want to share and maybe inspire you all with new things/ideas you could pick up in this time (we are all in this together, so we need to work together to make sure everyone is doing good mentally in the current circumstances. Small hobbies, new interests, making personal goals to achieve long term or even ones that you want to achieve short term will all help you with your self-care and deep realisation of yourself in so many ways.
1) Start a new fitness goal - I have started a 3 month training plan made by Anthony (or known as The booty king on Instagram) It is all about determination and how bad you want it, if there was a time to do this it would be now, test and push how far you can go - this is how results are achieved.
2) Start baking/improve your cooking skills - you could even make short videos of the process and share it with others to inspire them.
3) Start planning a small business/side hustle - start small and get bigger, you have nothing to lose.
4) Get into reading, read genres you have not read before - Amazon is great for a variety of books.
5) Do not spend too much time looking at the news - it can and will trigger or worsen negative thoughts about the uncertainty of the current pandemic.
6) Meditate - I have recently started meditating. Headspace is a great app to take min of 5 mins up to 15 mins of your day just to relax, think and focus your mind. Clear jumbled thoughts and remember that this we are one day closer to this all being over.
7) Drawing/Colouring - This can be very therapeutic whether it be free drawing or sketching out images to colouring books.
8) Skincare routine - Start taking care of you skin, start a new skincare routine - maybe even share your new findings with others.
9) Stay in contact with your loved ones more often than before - Our phones are our greatest tools right now in order to make us feel together and a lot less lonely. Conversations or just even being on the phone in silence, getting on with your day can make a huge difference to your soul and the soul on the other end of the phone. It is always the little things that make a difference.
10) Save money - Discipline yourself, think about your future plans, investments and business/s you may want to begin. Now is the best time to keep that money aside.
11) Improving my make up skills- I think I is important to relax being at home and not worry about how you look but it is also just as important to make yourself feel good. Make-up is powerful so putting some on can bring some kind of normality back to you or even improving/experimenting with new looks could lead you to a skill you didn't think you could achieve. For me that skill would be creating a cut crease, I struggle with this but I will aim to get better at it.
I hope this post uplifted you a tiny bit and I hope that you stay safe and positive. Try not to dwell on what will and will not happen with the pandemic (it is something out of our control), instead focus on the here and now. Any suggestions on more hobbies/good habits/inspirations to pick up on please do let me know:)
One more quick thing, please please pleaseeeee do not abandon your pets, they cannot get or pass on the virus. This seems to be a new arising issue unfortunately :(
Stay safe, stay inside and stay positive. All will be fine in the end.
